STRONGER TOGETHER: RANW and CWBR Explore a Unified Future for REALTORS®

The REALTORS® Association of Northeast Wisconsin (RANW) and the Central Wisconsin Board of REALTORS® (CWBR) are excited to announce that our organizations are formally exploring a merger that would create a stronger, more sustainable association dedicated to serving REALTORS®, property owners, and the communities of Central and Northeast Wisconsin.

This exploration is rooted in a simple question:

How can we best serve our members today while positioning our organizations for long-term success tomorrow?

As the real estate industry continues to evolve, REALTORS® increasingly work beyond traditional geographic boundaries. Clients move, invest, buy, and sell across multiple counties and markets, and our associations must be positioned to support that reality.

By combining resources, expertise, and operational strengths, a unified association would be able to provide greater value to members while maintaining a strong commitment to local communities and relationships.

Why Explore a Merger?

The decision to explore a merger is a proactive investment in the future of our profession.

Both organizations have a proud history of serving members through education, advocacy, MLS services, professional standards, networking opportunities, and community involvement. A merged association would build upon those strengths while creating new opportunities that may not be possible independently.

The goal is not to replace local connections.

The goal is to strengthen them through broader resources, enhanced capabilities, and a larger collective voice.

As RANW President Jill Dickson-Kesler noted:

"Today's REALTORS® increasingly work across traditional geographic boundaries. This merger reflects the reality of today's marketplace and positions us to provide members with stronger services, greater resources, and a unified voice to support homeownership and private property rights."

Key Benefits for Members

Stronger Member Services

Combining staff expertise and organizational resources would allow the new association to expand professional development opportunities, improve member support, invest in technology, and create additional networking opportunities across a larger region.

Members would gain access to a broader range of services while continuing to receive personalized support.

Improved MLS and Market Data Resources

A merger would create opportunities to streamline operations, improve data consistency, and enhance access to market information.

As markets become increasingly interconnected, REALTORS® benefit from accurate, comprehensive data that helps them better serve buyers and sellers throughout the region.

Greater Financial Stability

A larger organization can create efficiencies and leverage shared resources more effectively.

This financial strength allows for continued investment in educational programs, technology initiatives, advocacy efforts, and member services that directly benefit REALTORS®.

Increased Advocacy and Industry Influence

A unified association would represent a larger membership base, strengthening its ability to advocate for private property rights, homeownership, housing affordability, and REALTOR® interests at the local, state, and national levels.

Together, our voice becomes stronger.

Enhanced Operational Efficiency

Shared leadership, coordinated planning, and streamlined operations can help reduce duplication and improve organizational efficiency.

These efficiencies allow association leaders and staff to focus on what matters most: delivering exceptional value to members.

A More Unified Regional Presence

The economies and housing markets across Central and Northeast Wisconsin are increasingly connected. REALTORS® often serve clients across multiple counties and communities.

A regional association would better reflect how business is conducted today while creating stronger connections among professionals throughout the area.

Preserving Local Identity

One of the most important priorities throughout this process is preserving the local relationships and community connections that members value.

Association leaders from both organizations recognize that the strength of our associations comes from local engagement, volunteer leadership, and community involvement.

Those foundations will remain important moving forward.

The vision is not to lose local identity, but to enhance member opportunities while maintaining the relationships, traditions, and community presence that have made both organizations successful.

As CWBR President Brian Slinkman shared:

"This merger would allow us to honor the histories and accomplishments of both organizations while building an even stronger future together. Our members, our communities, and the consumers we serve will benefit from a more connected, efficient, and influential REALTOR® organization."

What Happens Next?

The merger is currently in the exploration phase. Leaders from both associations are carefully evaluating governance, organizational structure, member services, financial considerations, and transition planning to ensure any future decision is made thoughtfully and in the best interests of members.

As discussions continue, members will receive additional information regarding:

  • Governance structure

  • Organizational leadership

  • Transition planning

  • Service delivery

  • Member benefits

  • Proposed timelines

  • Opportunities for feedback

Transparency and member communication will remain a priority throughout the process.

Looking Ahead

At its core, this exploration is about creating a stronger future for REALTORS® across Central and Northeast Wisconsin.

By working together, RANW and CWBR have the opportunity to expand resources, strengthen advocacy, improve member services, and better support the real estate professionals who help individuals and families achieve the dream of homeownership every day.

Stronger Together. Greater Impact. Brighter Future.

We look forward to sharing more information as the process moves forward and to engaging members every step of the way.
